Poems 9 - The ‘Modern World’ Watches Newsreel Images:
A partial exclamation!
A juxtaposition –
Or a combining of two elements – fire and air.
Some plunging flames (explanation: this is all muddled).
The images flicker.
And now…
From the curdling sky,
Another screaming fall.
The voice of the modern world,
Electric sharp in panic,
Shocked.
Still alive
As flames eat through its skin
It sags slowly out of the night,
Crashing as wreckage.
But now we watch,
Each like Nero, unconcerned.
This is better than fireworks.
Another pagan rite
Another curdling sky
Another screaming fall.
Another fall.
